Welcome Families!

“One quote comes to mind. ‘You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.’ Dance Marathon has given us several perfect days.”
- The Roehl’s, a Dance Marathon family

What is Dance Marathon?

Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan is a student organization that works to improve the quality of life for children with disabilities by raising funds for therapies located throughout Southeastern Michigan.

Who are Dance Marathon families?

Dance Marathon families have children who have used or currently use pediatric rehabilitation programs provided by a diverse team of highly experienced, full-time pediatric specialists at Royal Oak Beaumont Children's Hospital and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor. Currently, there are over 50 families who participate with our organization. These families have the unique opportunity to establish relationships with a team of University of Michigan students who they are paired with throughout the academic year. This is done through DMUM-wide events, interaction opportunities with student volunteers at therapies, and team-specific bonding events.
Dance Marathon would not be the incredible and unique organization that it is without the friendships forged between families and our dancers, which often last a lifetime. Smiles are passed all around from the students to the kids, who love having college friends and role models, and finally to the parents, who benefit from connecting with other parents and learning about new or existing therapies made possible by DMUM. Dance Marathon helps children with social immersion, helps them build confidence, and exposes families to a community of people truly dedicated to the success and inclusion of all kids at every age and developmental level. Dance Marathon truly provides something for everyone, in a community where everyone is for the kids!
