A Word from our K12 Engagement Chair!
With the circumstances of this year, we have been grateful for any amount of interaction with our DMUM partner schools this past semester! We have been on Zoom calls with students and staff from Greenhills School and Chelsea High School discussing how we can work together this year! Students from Greenhills attended both Pumpkin Carving and Family Circles this year. It was so wonderful to see students from our K12 partner schools interact with our families and dancers!
We have also been grateful to build our partnership with Michigan Medicine this year. Working side by side, we reviewed materials from Dance Marathons across the country and how they operate their partnerships with K12 schools. Using that information, Michigan Medicine is helping us to build a toolkit that we can use to recruit and inform local schools in Michigan about our mission! The creation of this kit will build a foundation for our K12 program to build on for years to come.
Looking forward to next semester, we plan to use the toolkit to reach out to more schools across the state as soon as next month. We plan to increase communication and cooperation with our partner schools, including facilitating virtual events and fundraisers. We also hope to include our partner schools in VictorThon programming!
